Kayla Jara

Graduate Student, 2018 - present

My name is Kayla Jara, and I'm originally from Parker, Colorado. I have experience working in an organic chemistry lab, however in my first year at OSU I found a passion for utilizing biophysical techniques such as NMR, ITC, and CD to characterize protein interactions. I now enjoy working in the Barbar lab exploring interactions between the intermediate chain of dynein and some of its binding partners. When I'm not in lab, I enjoy watching TV sitcoms and game-shows. I also like to read classic novels such as the Harry Potter series. You can also find me playing soccer for the department's intramural team or serving as an integral member of our lab's trivia team. I have also served as the First Year Representative for the Biochemistry and Biophysics Graduate Student Association.
